From today, 22nd September 2017, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, is undertaking an official cordial visit to the Patriarchate of Serbia.
The Alexandrian Primate is accompanied by Their Eminences Metropolitans George of Guinea, Representative of His Beatitude in Athens, Niphon of Pilousion and Archimandrite Daniel Biazis Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod.
The Primate of the Alexandrian Church was welcomed at the Belgrade Airport by His Beatitude Irenaios Patriarch of the Serbs, with the presence of Hierarchs, Priests and faithful Christians of te Serbian Church, and the presence of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of Greece Mr. Elias Eliakis, of Egypt Mr.Ezz Eldin Fahmy Mahmoud, as well as the Consul of Egypt in Belgrade. The two Primates immediately gave the usual statements to the representatives of the Media.
They then immediately went to the Patriarchal Mansion in Belgrade, to the Patriarchal Chapel of St Symeon the Myroblete, where the Patriarch of Alexandria attended an Official Doxology for his arrival and the two Primates then exchanged the usual addresses at these visits.
His Beatitude Theodoros II of Alexandria spoke of the strong bonds of love between the two Churches. He spoke also of the Saints who adorn the Alexandrian Church from the Apostle Mark, founder and patron of the Patriarchate, the Great Righteous ascetics and teachers of the desert, the great Alexandrian Hierarchs and the Saints which the Serbian Church has raised. There was a particularly large presence of Priests and Seminarians from the Theological Academy of Belgrade, whom he praised, emphasizing that they are the hope and the future of the Serbian Church.
